Lucy Atkinson Rose (she kept her maiden name) died at age 50 on July 17, 1997. She was survived by her husband Guerry Cook and daughter Lucy Mac who was 8 at the time. She was Associate Professor of Homiletics and Worship at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur when she died. She had been a pastor for seven years and on the faculty for 14 years.
